Good design takes thoughtfulness and good project preparation takes time. Each project and client are different, however below you'll find a general timeline which provides insight into how long you can expect your project planning journey to take, keeping in mind each project and client are different! Treat your home & your project like the investment it is and plan ahead!

So.... How long does it take to plan a successful project?

Design Agreement &
Initial Measure

We've had an initial phone call and/or meeting and you've made the excellent decision to move forward by signing the Design Agreement! Now it's time for me to collect the measurements of your existing space, from which I will work off of to create our new plan layout!

Conceptual Design

We'll start by reviewing different plan options at a high level, focusing on the overall floor plan, flow, and architectural design. Making edits to tailor the new plan to your wants and needs. After our initial plan review meeting, I suggest to take time and imagine how you will live in the new space.

2 weeks +

TIP: to firm up your project budget, at this stage you should consult a contractor to understand how different plan options will affect the overall project investment

Layering in the Details

Once you feel confident about the new floor plan it's time to dial in on the details: cabinetry layouts, electrical plans, and any other aspects of the project. This stage usually involves a couple of different meetings, but all of these steps ensure that once construction begins we have a road map for success, and a finished product you will love!

Material Selections

Not all products are readily available, some may have longer lead times - especially custom items. Don't wait until your contractor needs something to start shopping for it! This can slow down the construction process and muddy the design. Selecting material finishes early in the process gives everyone more clarity and a leg up.
